§ 10-110. Authorization to create, maintain and fund; purpose; licensing and approval by county required.

  • The board is authorized to create, institute, construct, operate, maintain and fund a county animal shelter or to enter into agreements with other governmental units or private individuals or corporations, for the establishment of animal shelters for the purpose of impounding those animals designated to be impounded under the terms of this chapter. Nothing contained in this article shall prohibit the designation of more than one shelter or limiting specific shelters to certain types of animals or confinements. No animal shelter shall receive, maintain, impound or euthanize animals within the unincorporated areas of the county unless that facility has been approved and licensed by the county subject to the minimum criteria in this article.
