§ 54-233. Authorization of ad valorem taxes and expenditures.

  • (a)

    The board is hereby authorized to levy annual ad valorem taxes upon taxable real and personal property within the law enforcement MSTU not to exceed ten mills, beginning with the county budget for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2010. The budget and millage rate for the law enforcement MSTU shall be approved and levied in the manner provided by general law for the levy of county ad valorem taxes.

    (b)

    Revenues derived from ad valorem taxes levied within the Law Enforcement MSTU shall be used for the provision of law enforcement services, facilities, and programs to property located within the boundaries of the law enforcement MSTU.

    (c)

    The expense of law enforcement services, facilities, and programs shall include, but not be limited to, costs associated with deputies' salaries and benefits, facilities, operations, vehicles, insurance, uniforms, training and administrative expenses properly apportionable to law enforcement services such as telephone, postage, printed forms, report forms, salaries and benefits.
