§ 52-71. User fees.

  • The Okeechobee County Fire Rescue Department shall initiate user fees for the following services within the unincorporated areas of Okeechobee County:

    (1)

    Fire rescue services, including costs and expenses related to personnel, supplies, motor vehicles, and equipment to the scene of accidents and/or fires involving aircraft, rail trains, and water vessels;

    (2)

    Costs to contain or clean up hazardous materials in quantities reportable to the Florida State warning point at the Division of Emergency Management, in response to a motor vehicle accident;

    (3)

    Costs for transportation and treatment provided by ambulance services licensed pursuant to F.S. § 401.23(4) and (5), in response to a motor vehicle accident; and

    (4)

    The delivery of fire rescue medical services, including costs and expenses related to personnel, supplies, motor vehicles, and equipment for treatment at the scene of structure fires.

    The rate of the user fees shall be that which is the usual, customary and reasonable cost (UCR), which includes any services, personnel, supplies, and equipment, and may fluctuate based on the needs of the accident or fire, and which shall be established by rates or formulas as contained in a resolution of the Board of County Commissioners.
