§ 2. Request and consent.

The City Council of Okeechobee hereby requests and consents to the inclusion of all of the incorporated area of the City within a specific geographic area identified by the County to provide emergency medical services, facilities, and programs and to the imposition of an EMS tax assessment by the County in accordance with F.S. § 125.271, to fund such emergency medical services, facilities and programs. Such request and consent shall become effective upon adoption of this ordinance for the upcoming fiscal year. The City Council finds that the provision of emergency medical services is an essential municipal purpose.
