§ 22-79. Inactive certificates.

  • A person who holds a valid certificate of competency may inactivate that certificate in accordance with the provisions of this section:

    (1)

    Contracting. A person who holds a valid certificate of competency which has been placed on the inactive status shall not engage in contracting, but may retain that certificate on an inactive basis on payment of an annual renewal fee, which is on file in the county offices.

    (2)

    Duration of inactive status. An individual may hold an inactive certificate for no more than four consecutive years. A person activating an inactive certificate, which has been inactive for longer than four consecutive years, must reapply for an active certificate in the same manner as a new applicant, including reexamination. The county building officials and inspectors holding an inactive license are exempt from this section.

    (3)

    Reactivation procedure. Persons desiring to activate an inactive certificate that has been inactive for less than four consecutive years shall:

    a.

    Complete and submit an application form to be supplied by the department of planning and development for review and action by the director.

    b.

    Pay reactivation fee.

    c.

    Provide proof of insurance as described in section 22-75(3).
